I have built and helped rank hundreds of websites in Google search. Follow the tips below once you launch your WordPress blog to ensure your website is found (crawled) quickly by Google.

1. DELETE the default POST  “Hello World” and PAGE “Sample Page”. When Google crawls websites with this default content, they will ding your website and not rank it as high from my experience.

2. CHANGE the footer text “Powered by WordPress” to your own company name or delete it. Again, this default phrase has hurt my Google search rankings. (Edit the footer via APPEARANCE < EDITOR < THEME FOOTER)

3. Install the following PLUGINS.

-Yoast SEO

-Contact Form 7

-All 404 Redirect to Homepage

-Auto Terms of Service and Privacy Policy

If you are new to WordPress, all plugins offer tutorials and guides on the PLUGINS under “View details”.

4. Add the following PAGES.

-CONTACT US page using the Contact Form 7 (paste the shortcode onto the Contact page). Change the contact form to email the messages to your email address of choice.

-ABOUT US page. 300+ words. Include 1-2 main keywords and at least 1 long-tail keyword.

-SERVICES page. 300+ words per page… to create more pages you can make a main Services page and then on that page have a hyperlink to each specific service page with a great main keyword page title (for example “Los Angeles Dentist SEO”, “Los Angeles Dentist Facebook Marketing”, etc.)

-PRIVACY/TERMS page (add Auto Terms of Service and Privacy Policy plugin shortcode).

5. Flesh out the content on your HOME page. This is the most important content page as it is the base URL crawled first by Google search. Include 3-5 of your main keywords. Write a minimum of 500 words (but aim for 1,000). You can outsource this writing via Upwork or iWriter (try to hire at a rate of $1-$1.50 per 100 words). Add 1-2 images with your main keywords as the ALT KEYWORD. Create images using the website Canva or the software Photoshop. You can find FREE images to use at the “Creative Commons” website. Save the photos/images including your keywords in the file name.

-Continue to add pages and posts weekly, to keep your website FRESH and constantly crawled by Google with your new content.

-Once you think you have a solid base website built, check it to ensure your on-site SEO is ok with any free “SEO audit tool” online (such as Zadroweb or Seoptimer). Fix any suggested changes.
